A focus timer for work and study.
Paxroom is a free online focus timer with music and ambient sounds. Set aside time for work or study, choose your background mix, and add a task if it helps. You can start a session without a task or an account.
New to the room? Follow the focus timer guide to set up a session with music, background sounds, and an optional task.
An online focus timer for work or study
Choose a session length or set your own, then settle into reading, writing, or a little deep work. Prefer an open-ended session? Let the timer count up with Stay a while. Choose an optional task under the timer, manage it in the to-do list, and review your time in Your sessions.
Ambient sounds for studying
Build your own background mix with rain, café sounds, a fireplace, ocean waves, and more. Adjust each layer in the mixing desk, add brown noise or vinyl crackle, and find an atmosphere that feels comfortable.
A focus timer with music
Start with the room records or bring an audio file you own. Music and ambient sounds have separate volume controls, so you can keep your soundtrack in the background while you work. Open the focus timer.
What it can and cannot do
Spotify audio is encrypted. Paxroom can play your playlists in the browser if you have Premium, and it can wrap them in room sound. It cannot turn a Spotify track into a slowed lofi edit.
If you drop an MP3 or WAV you own, Paxroom can slow it, dull the highs, add tape saturation and a short room reverb. That is the only real lofi chain.
